Student opportunities and activities
At Marrickville Public School, we offer a variety of programs in the classroom and across the school to help students build new skills, make friends and explore new interests.
Our programs include:

Our extra-curricular highlights
Debating and public speaking
Students can develop their thinking, communication and teamwork skills through debating and public speaking. They also have the chance to compete in local and state events.
Cantabile Choir
A senior choral ensemble that learn extensive repertoire and perform at school events and the Sydney Opera House. Open to students in Years 5 and 6.
Competitions
Students are involved in a range of different competitions at our school to extend their learning. From the Maths Olympiad to The Game Changer Challenge students use critical thinking to compete in lots of different ways.
Rookie Recorders
An extra curricular group aimed to teach foundational skills with this popular instument. Open to all students from Kindergarten to Year 6.
Primary Proms
A choral ensemble that learn extensive musical repertoire and perform at school events and the Sydney Town Hall. Open to students in Years 3 and 4.
Senior Recorder
Open to all students, our Senior Recorder Ensemble is part of the Festival of Instrumental Music that rehearse and perform at the Sydney Opera House along with hundreds of talented musicians within the Public Education sector.
Junior Choir
A foundational choir that teaches a range of musical repertoire and gets students excited about singing and improving their vocal skills. Open to students in Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2.
Concert Band
An ensemble of experienced music players who learn and perform a variety of high-interest musical repertoire. On site before and after school music tuition across a range of instruments is also available. Contact Bennelong Music to enrol.
Rock Band
A vibrant group of music enthusiasts who come together to perform high energy popular pieces at a range of school and community events. Open to all students K-6.
String Ensembles
Senior and Junior String tuition and performances for violin, viola and cello are open to any interested students.
Enrichment Groups
Our Enrichment Group program gives students multiple opportunities throughout the year to explore their interests, learn new skills and extend their knowledge. Groups include Graphic Design, Coding, Gardening, Cooking, Sewing, Visual Arts, Podcasts, School Newspaper, Languages, Community Outreach, Photography, Music Jam and more.
